The future of the DCC is in Question
Elections for your Darnall Community Council (DCC) were scheduled to be held in May. Unfortunately there were no volunteers to run for the board seats. The current DCC members have stepped down or are planning to step down from their positions. The DCC is currently without a permanent board for the next calendar year. Anna Orzel ?–Anita has agreed to print this Darnall Digest and chair the July meeting. No one has volunteered to step up to lead this very important organization. The DCC has struggled for many years for attendance. Every meeting is attended by approximately 10 to 15 people and generally the same faithful neighbors month after month. This is surprisingly low since we have nearly a 1000 homes in our community. The other area councils, such as Rolando Park and Oak Park, are experiencing greater neighbor involvement in their monthly community councils. At the May meeting, those in attendance decided to change our monthly meetings to every other month. Therefore, the remainder of the 2005 meetings will be in July, September and November. In the event that no candidates step forward, those in attendance at the July meeting will make the necessary decisions regarding the future of the DCC. If you are concerned about your neighborhood ?– come to the meeting and get involved!! Please attend this very important meeting!
