As most of you know.. Rego Park is dirty and doesn't have too many
green spaces.. except the one that are hidden away that nobody knows
about, Lost Battalion Hall as an example!
I would also like to point out, that dirty 63rd drive has no trees
except for the ones in the school, one skimpy one in front of the library, and further down away from the
stores. There are tree pits used for dog poop and garbage but nobody
takes care of it and the trees haven't been replaced.
I have been talking to people from various agencies including the parks department. I'm in the process of requesting a design intern... but I need YOUR help!
Where do you think should be the first place we work on?
Who here would like to get involved, in any small or big way?
Before I send this proposal, I want to post it here and have all of
you fill it out..
Then I will combine your answers and ideas and look for the best ones, and use them to fill out the proposal.
This needs to be a group effort if we want to beautify our neighborhood and make the air cleaner! I have enough problems breathing here!
We need trees and plants to breathe!
You can do anything to help.. from helping to fill out the proposal,
getting other people involved, helping with a planting project in the
neighbohood volunteering to water a tree...
Signing a petiton.. look around.. see what areas should have grass!
I was shocked when a couple of years ago.. they TOOK OUT all the grass
and trees around P.S. 139 and put in cement only sidewalks!!
Kids should have grass to play on!
Why would they do that?!
Can anyone find out?
Who owns the space next to Sizzler with the benches?
Where are the "Greenstreets" and community gardens?
We don't have too many, and the ones we have are very small.
Proposal is in the next page.
Thanks everyone!
