Don't know if anyone checks this anymore, but my car was broken into last night and we lost a lot in the theft.

We are filing a police report, with little hope of recovery, but - if you park your car in your driveway or in the street last night, you should check your car to make sure nothing was stolen.

Lock your cars folks - they were looking for an easy steal, no windows were broken.

Thanks for the info - guess it's time to clean the garage out so I can fit both vehicles inside.

There was discussion some time ago about a neighborhood watch program - have you heard anyhting about that recently? I noticed it's not on the agenda for next week's HOA meeting.

I haven't heard anything about the watch for a long time. I'm sure though, that if someone brought it up it would be discussed at the meeting.

Also - talked to the police, the officer who took my report said that this is a growing crime - that kids get dropped off in nicer neighborhoods in the early morning hours and go through looking for easy to get in to cars (unlocked, or easily picked) and steal as much as they can in a short amount of time.  So - make sure you are locking your cars if you aren't parking them in your garage.  He said it is happening more and more often, esp in Franklin Twsp.

About 3 weeks ago, my dog and I woke (about 3 a.m. on a Mon) to someone reaching through our storm door screen (which I forgot to rollup) and giggling our front door handle.  Of course, they were gone by the time I got all lights on, but whoever it was knew the house was full of people.  The screen was out of it's groove.  We had 2 cars in the driveway - which tells me that they would have used whatever means to get what they wanted.  This is our 2nd entry attempt that we know of on our house and our cars have been broken into 2 times.  The first time (4 years ago), they got change and cigs.  A year or 2 later they got all of our CD's and CD case (silver & blue hard case).  We lock all the time and hope we don't forget again.  We also had a kid spray paint our house and another home that was vacant w/obscenities.  We have heard from other children who the person was that did this to our home.  Of course, the child was UNATTENDED by a responsible adult the weekend that this happened.  How much would it cost to get some city lights strategically placed in dark backyards?  I have 2 motion lights too!  Our old home had one and it only cost us $10/mo about 10 years ago to keep it lit.  It was worth it!!!!!  I hear  about of all kinds of breakins from friends and neighbors that are not reported on this website .  Around Aug, our kids along with some guests were playing flashlight tag and ran up upon a man hiding in the grass behind one of the white fences along 5 Points.  The person reportedly was pickedup by another person driving through our neighborhood and they sped off down 5 Points.  I'm up all all hours and always peek out everytime I'm up.  I pray everyone else does this too.  I try to look everywhere my eyes can see even if it's your house.  I would love to catch one of these spineless guttersnipes and make an example of them!!!!
