After years of asking, pleading, letter writing and studying, the Kissena Park Area has had its contextual rezoning plan certified by City Planning on Dec. 6, 2004. The ULURP will be put through in a speedy manner because Director John Young of City Planning submitted the application and the City Council, under zoning sub-committee chairman Tony Avella, fought for the rezoning to take place. The next thing we must look to have done in our community is to have our R2 zones converted to the new R2A zone when it becomes officiated. This will prevent building of oversized single-family houses which dwarf our existing housing stock and are sometimes illegally converted for multiple family use. What is your oppinion with regard to this issue?
