New Tampa Transportation Task Force meetings

The following are the recommendations found by the New Tampa Transportation Task Force to alleviate congestion and improve safety,ensure future ease of transit and enhance the quality of life in New Tampa.The following list of road improvements were voted upon at the April 19 2000 meeting and were found unanimously by the delegates to be included on the list of recommendations.The recommendations will be taken before all the Home Owners Associations in New Tampa for approval by resolution. 1)The completion of Cross Creek Blvd to Morris Bridge Road in the next three years and the placement of a traffic light at the above intersection. 2)The renovation of the exit ramp from I-75 north to Bruce B. Downs to include a queueing lane on I-75 and the addition of a fifth lane on Bruce B. Downs north from I-75 to a point providing safety and speed of transit.Because of the present unsafe conditions at this point these improvements should be done on an emergency basis. 3)The construction of a "Fly-Over" entrance ramp from Bruce B. Downs south onto I-75 southbound.Said Fly-over should be constructed to also alleviate the backing up of traffic onto Bruce B. Downs north by those traveling from south of I-75 onto I-75 south.Construction is urged to be completed no later than 2005. 4)The City of Tampa is urged to construct a bridge over I-75 connecting New Tampa Blvd to Commerce Parkway. 5)The MPO of Hillsborough Co.is urged to keep the East-West road, running from the intersection of Commerce Parkway and New Tampa Blvd to I-275, on the 2020 and 2025 cost affordable plan while a PD&E study is conducted and final funding determined.It is further requested that the roads priority status be examined reflecting the areas of explosive growth,greater than forecast traffic,possible connection to future mass transit modalities and alleviation of congestion on other area roads. 6)Bruce B. Downs should be widened to six lanes from 43rd Street to County Line Road at the earliest date but certainly no later than 2011 and within the present Interim Plan of the MPO. 7)Completion of the so called "Spine Road" connecting the communities north of I-75 and west of Bruce B. Downs in three years. 8)Expansion of Cross Creek Blvd to four lanes all the way to Morris Bridge Road to be completed after Cross Creek Blvd has been completed to Morris Bridge Road as a two lane facility. 9)Renovations to the following intersections:A)Bears Ave and Bruce B. Downs (Queue lane exiting from BBD onto Bears Ave) B) Cross Creek Blvd-New Tampa Blvd and BBD (leveling of pavement,additional turning lanes and the instillation of a non mountable curb along the right turning lane).C) Livingston Ave and County Line Road. 10)Instillation of a queue lane exiting BBD onto Regents Park Dve North and the placement of a traffic light at that intersection. 11) Contiuation of County Line Road to Route 41.
