Party Noise In The Neighborhood

Nov 14, 2002

With the U of A back in session, there are bound to be some noisy parties. Although people have the right to entertain friends and have fun, they don?’t have the right to infringe on the rights of others with blasting stereos, shouting, squealing tires, and leaving a mess. What can one do?

Call 719.4444 to report the noise. If no answer call 911.

Use the term RED TAG and be firm with the police operator that action needs to be taken.

You do not need to give your name as the community as a whole is viewed as the victim in cases where a RED TAG is warranted.

Typically, for the police to RED TAG a residence or place of business, the noise must be caused by 5 or more people. However, noise is noise and if one or two people are blaring their stereo, the police will intervene. In these instances, the police do need your name. As a neighborhood, we have the right to peace, quite, and cleanliness. U of A students need to be held to the same level of responsibility and civility as the rest of the neighborhood.
