Plumber Beware

Posted in: River Trails

On 1/25/10 Jeanna Tucker contracted with my company for plumbing services. We were hired to install a gas line from the meter to the back yard for a fire pit and BBG grill. This work required a permit from the City of Fort Worth and a city inspection. We were initially red tagged and made the corrections. This work was performed during the terrible freeze and subsequent rain in February 2010 resulting in some weather related delays. The City of Fort Worth approved the gas line we installed on 2/26/2010, however, they requested the homeowner have a gas pressure test on her house. We advised Ms. Tucker that the gas pressure test was not covered in the contract and if she wanted us to perform it there would be a charge. Our contract included a gas pressure test on the new gas line we installed, not on her house. We dropped our regular gas pressure test fee of $265.00 to $200.00 to accommodate the customer. Ms. Tucker was unreasonable and insisted we perform the work for free. Our contract signed by Ms. Tucker states “any additional work or city requested changes will be additional cost to the Requestor when not included in the original bid”.  We completed everything we agreed to in our contract with Ms. Tucker and did not charge her credit card until the work was completed. We have been in business for 31 years have thousands of satisfied customers and regret Ms. Tucker is not one of them.  We are accredited member of the BBB, authorized gas service provider for Atmos Energy, and a member of HEB Chamber of Commerce. Feel free to visit us at hatcherplumbing.com for testimonials of our many satisfied customers.

Wow, I am really surprised that Steve Hatcher Plumbing would respond to my post considering that they charged my credit card before the inspection was even started.  The work for the original failed inspection was not even completed as stated above.  I am not talking about additional work such as the house being tested.  When I hired a new plumber, the gas line was not even hooked up to the house.  I still even have Hatcher's pressure gauge from the original line.  People can use Hatcher Plumbing services if they choose so, however, I feel that their services were not worth $2500.  They did not complete the work that was contracted for.  It is all done with now and I am happy with the final result, but what a long nightmare!

My experience over the last 15 years is that they are mostly all crooks.  Haven't found a company yet that has done us right.  Always something.  Workers come and go, and leave a big mess for the homeowner to try and resolve with the company.  Our last go around has been with Meranda's Rooter Plumbing out of Burleson.  Bunch of liars.  If someone has had positive repeat experience with plumbers, please share with the forum.

We used Ernie's Plumbing service.. After calling around the yelllow pages when our hot water heater blew out.. They were very professional and reasonable.. I would call them again if I had an emergency or a plumbing need..
