Speaker
Charlie Wilson, Director of Department of Environmental Resources
There are seven divisions in the DER;
Environment Services
License and Inspection
Permits
Waste Management
Animal Management
Community Services
Administrative Services

Mr. Wilson notified the association that the recycling program will have some changes in the near future, we will eventually be receiving new 55 gallon totes that will replace the smaller totes we now use. He also said we can use any type of container now for recycling, we just need to put an “X” on the container to identify it as recycle waste for the workers.

For more information on each division and services go to the DER website at http://www.co.pg.md.us/government/agencyindex/der/index.asp

County Police introduced a new program called Joint Agency Group (JAG), the police joins with other agencies such as DER, social services, and the Health Department to address quality of life issues. The JAG team is most effective when the citizens call regarding problem properties such as abandoned homes.
