Riverside Heights Civic Association & Crime Watch

There has recently been a wave of car break-ins and burglaries in our neighborhood.  The TPD District has amped up patrols throughout our area and they believe it is juveniles.  My neighbor across the street had his vehicle broken into and the part that really scares me is that when my Mother left for work on that same morning, there was a car sitting in the road....running with two people in the car.  Most likely looking for their next score.  What's even more alarming is that my boyfriend is a TPD officer and there is a police car parked in my driveway 2 or 3 nights a week.  The blatant nature of these thieves should make us all be very careful.

Here is the most important thing that TPD would like to relay to us: LOCK YOUR VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES AND DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN PLAIN VIEW IN YOUR CAR.  Most of the theft in our neighborhood has been to unlocked cars.

Lets look out for each other and keep our neighborhood safe!

Our home was burglarized in early Sept. (I live on Ohio Ave.)  The police caught the burglar; he has multiple charges against him.  He is a 19 year old with a Seminole Heights address.  He forced open a back door that was secured with a deadbolt.  I strongly urge all residents of our neighborhood to make your home as secure as possible and report any suspicious cars or individuals to the police dept.  The police encouraged me to call them, and said that they will check out any person or vehicle that does not appear to belong in the neighborhood or looks suspicious.  They told me that these criminals hang around the neighborhood looking for their next victim, so do not hesitate to call the police.
