LARCENY FROM AUTO
ALERT
Good Evening UCD Residents,
We are gearing up for NASCAR Race Week in the University City Division. You will probably notice more officers on bikes and segways in our hotel and shopping center parking lots. Even with the added presence we are still experiencing a large number of Larceny From Autos on many of our main corridors especially along N. Tryon St, University City Blvd and Harris Blvd. The thieves are targeting cars and trucks (F150 and 250) that have GPS systems, radar detectors, purses and laptop computers. They are punching the locks, smashing windows and sunroofs.
To Avoid Being a Victim of This Crime PLEASE:
Always lock your doors and roll up your windows
2. NEVER leave valuable items in your vehicle
3. Store packages in the trunk of your vehicle while shopping
Remove items such as GPS units, telephones, Ipods, purses (checkbooks), briefcases, backpacks, cash and even loose change each time you leave your vehicle.
Park in well lit areas at night
Park vehicle in the driveway rather than the street
7. Consider a car alarm for added protection
Call 911 if you see any suspicious activity especially if you see something that does not look right
ENCOURAGE YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND CO-WORKERS TO KEEP VALUABLES OUT OF THEIR VEHICLES AT HOME, WORK OR WHILE RUNNING ERRANDS.
