The Wyandotte Marching Chiefs are perhaps the most visible part of the instrumental music program at Roosevelt High School. In addition to performing at all of the home football games the Chiefs may support the team at away games. The Chiefs perform at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association Marching Band Festival in October of each year. The Marching Chiefs are also active members in the Michigan Competing Bands Association and perform at weekend band competitions throughout the fall marching season. The Marching Chiefs may also schedule other special appearances such as parades at Homecoming, Christmas and the 4th of July. Instrumentation is limited to wind and percussion instruments. Auxiliary groups in both percussion and Color Guard are also vital to the success of the Wyandotte Marching Chiefs.
The Marching Chiefs is one of the most positive and educationally powerful organizations that students at Roosevelt can belong to. Along with this participation comes responsibility and time commitment. Every member of the Marching Chiefs is required to attend Band Camp which takes place AUGUST 23-29 this summer.. During the school year the Chiefs rehearse TUESDAY & THURSDAY Evenings from 5:30 - 8:30pm. Some O hour (7:00 am) rehearsals are also reserved for various sectionals. . Students who participate in the Marching Chiefs will gain leadership, coordination, time management and musical skills.
