I have a question about our No Soliciting sign at the front of the neighborhood...what exactly does that mean and what are the exceptions? 

I am thoroughly annoyed at Pinnacle Energy knocking on my door all the time.  I have told each one of them that there is a No Soliciting sign at the front of the neighborhood and they state, "Oh I'm not selling anything"....what recourse do we have to keep these people out of our neighborhood or at least off my doorstep?  I know I could call Pinnacle to get my address taken off their list but as a neighborhood, are we allowing this?  Thank you very much.

The dictionary defines "solicitation" without an object (as we use it on our sign) as "to make a petition or request, as for something desired". 

Our No Soliciting sign on the community sign refers to ANY door-to-door canvassing for any purpose.  This includes door-to-door salespeople or information peddlers, and religious proselytizers.  Feel free to ask them for their company or affliation information to report to the appropriate person.  That may be their employer, their church, our county councilman, etc.

This does not affect things like the ice cream trucks that sometimes go through the community using only the public roads.

Dave Hackett, our county councilman, is not able to attend our community meeting on July26th, but is sending his aid, Valerie, to be sure any county related issues are handled.  This would be a perfect time to clarify what we can do individually, and as a community, to enforce this rule.
