This is a great year to take advantage of affordable home prices and historically low mortgage rates - combined with down payment assistance from the City of Houston.

"Why rent when you can own your own home?," says Mayor Bill White.

Now is the perfect time to make the move to a new home for about the same amount you are currently paying for rent. If you qualify for down payment assistance, monthly mortgage payments (including taxes and insurance) could range from $650-$950.
