of Southwest Baltimore on Saturday, July 25 to help prepare a plan of action
to address concerns around safety, sanitation, transportation, economic
development, and community health.

There are many ways to help
Baltimore City's Animal Shelter. Monetary donations can be made by cash or
check, payable to BARCS. Monthly donations can be set up through your bank to
be automatically mailed to BARCS and you can designate funds to BARCS when
donating through United Way. It's easy to donate through the website at www.baltimoreanimalshelter.org. Supply donations are also greatly appreciated. Bath
towels, leashes, toys, paper towels, rubber gloves, box tops, and more can
help us help animals in Baltimore City. Consider BARCS your go to place when
looking to adopt a companion. You can also foster pets through BARCS so that
we save room in our shelter and animals have a better chance of finding a
forever home. If you're looking to volunteer we have a number of positions
including dog walking, adoption counseling, surgery, animal care, events and
fund-raising, cat socializing, grant writing, and office work. BARCS saved
8,663 lives in 2013 and we hope to keep this number growing. BARCS is open to
the public Monday through Friday 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday
11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. All donations can be mailed to Baltimore Animal Rescue

Becoming a mentor is easy.
Mentoring is about real relationships that help young people overcome
obstacles and thrive. From education to extracurricular activities to
community engagement, young people benefit from mentoring. Big Brothers Big
Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake Community One-to-One Mentoring Program
connects young people with caring adult mentors. Matches are provided with
professional supports, inclusive of a case manager, and monthly low to no
cost activities. We ask that volunteers commit to mentoring a child for a
minimum of one year and to plan two to three match activities per month. To

12 African American Women Who
Changed The World

The Waxter Senior Center is hosting a Waxter Wisdom 2015 program to
include 12 African American woman who changed the world. This year-long
workshop series will portray 12 African American women who have influenced
and shaped the world as we know it today. The workshops will take place each
month at 10:00 a.m. at the Waxter Center on 1000 Cathedral Street. Caregiver
assistance information will also be available at all sessions as part of the
center's Project: Taking Care of Mom and Dad. Lunch will be included for seniors
at the presentations but must be registered for at 410-396-1324. Any
non-seniors wishing to enjoy lunch can purchase at the event for $5.00. The

soliciting community organizations to come out and provide health screenings
and health-related literature i.e breast cancer, diabetes, organ donations,

Zumba, Aerobics, Yoga and other exercises. It's a chance to come out and
