New Optimist Club Forming To Serve
Area Youth and Community
A group of Schertz-Cibolo community members have announced they are forming the Schertz-Cibolo Optimist Club. Its purpose is to conduct positive service projects to benefit area youth and the community.
The Schertz-Cibolo Optimist Club is affiliated with Optimist International, one of the world?’s largest and most active service club organizations. With more than 115,000 members in 3,500 Optimist clubs in the United States, Canada, and other nations, Optimist clubs conduct a wide range of positive service projects reaching more than six million young people each year.
Major Optimist programs include the Optimist Oratorical and Essay Contests, the Communications Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Youth Appreciation, Substance Abuse Prevention, Optimist International Junior Golf Championships, and many others. Area clubs also have the option of conducting programs which meet the needs of their particular communities.
The Schertz-Cibolo Optimist Club is still forming; interested area residents are encouraged to attend the next informational meeting which will be held Tuesday evening, April 26, at Harmon?’s Barbeque, 100 S. Main, Cibolo, Texas. Those desiring to eat excellent barbeque, arrive at 6:30 P.M. The actual meeting will begin at 7:00 P.M. and last one hour.
Members of North Central Optimist Club in San Antonio are sponsoring the formation of this new service club and will be present to provide information and to answer questions.
