SOCOMA Ladies April 2004 Minutes

The SOCOMA Ladies Group met at Ming Tree Restaurant on Blanco Rd., on Thursday, April 8th at 11:30 AM. Those attending were: Janice Stone, Kathy Jones, Mickie Hookstra, Pat Kress, Dorothy Hess, Jo Hall, Cecilia Schwartzott & Gina Williams (8).

Social time.

Business: Kathy Jones reported on the COP 'Cellular On Patrol' Program. They are in need of more volunteers, with the goal of each person driving only once a month. Those interested, who have not attended training classes can still participate, by riding along with a person who has attended the training. To volunteer contact Kathy Jones at 497-8968 for the Hills & Stone Creek area, Jim Holcomb at 497-8170 for the Stone Canyon area and Doug McCray at dmccary@satx.rr.com for the Glen area. Currently only the weekends are being covered, but when school is out will do every night.

Treasurer's Report: Cecilia reported that we have a current balance of $296.90.

We discussed the possible Fall/Spring Garage Sales, with the suggestion made to solicit a volunteer to coordinate this event months in advance with the date set and advertised, so the community will have a few months to prepare. The city fee to have a garage sale has increased to $16 per family, which may deter people from participating, or may encourage families to share a garage sale.
No one has volunteered at this time to chair a Fall Garage Sale, if no one does, we will presume we aren't having one, and look ahead to a Spring Garage Sale.

Our election of officers will be at the May meeting, with luncheons stopping over the summer months, and starting the second Thursday of each month at 11:30 AM, after school resumes, which this year will be on Sept. 9, 2004. There is an opening for the President's position, for someone to replace Ginger Baer. Current officers, who will volunteer to run again are: DeAnna Burton for Vice President, Cecilia Schwartzott for Treasurer and Gina Williams for Secretary. Our next Luncheon will be on the 2nd Thursday, May 13th, at 11:30 AM at Johnny Carino's Italian Restaurant, 1301 N Loop 1604 W. Their lunch menu runs from $6 to $8.
