Recently I was nominated by Commander Brackens and Officer Kincaid (Waite) to receive an award for Community Volunteerism. Brother Tim joined us and we had a great dinner and conversation. Later when I reflected on it, I thought the certificate was great but the rewards of a Community Volunteer means much more to me than an award, altho I have some and I do treasure them. The rewards are great when a neighbor calls and that bad building finally came down, the aban car was towed away, they were able to go to a community meeting that helped them, or they just want to tell you why they want to sell their house for 50 cents today when it was only 25 cents yesterday. (We have this joke among us.) Awards go in a drawer or on the wall and collect dust, but rewards are there for you to see and admire everyday. It?’s a great feeling. Thanks.
