Southeast Arlington Community Alliance
P.O. Box 181362
Arlington, TX 76096-1362
Dear Community and Business Leader:
This letter is to introduce you to our organization. We are the Southeast Arlington Community Alliance, better known as SEACA. We are a community organization formed after the Southeast Arlington Sector Plan was adopted by the city council on February 17, 1998. We work with the city and others to help implement the community-driven initiatives of the sector plan. We meet once a month at the First Savings Bank at 4501 Matlock Rd, Arlington TX 76018.
During our meetings we try to invite guest speakers, such as members of the Planning and Zoning Commission, developers who are interested in building in our area, and other people who can provide valuable information relating to Southeast Arlington. Before the last city election we invited some of the at-large candidates to speak to our group.
One of our major focuses is staying on top of the new development in Southeast Arlington. The following is a list of the projects and people which we have been involved in: Don Davis and Wayne Winters in regard to a new car dealership, Buz Post and his new car dealership, Coy Garrett and David Blom with respect to a residential and retail development in far Southeast Arlington, the Racetrack development on Matlock just south of I20, IDI and their warehouse development at Bardin and New York, and Clif Mycoskie on some developments.
Other community-related activities which we have participated in include the Cardboard Boat Regatta and school supplies for needy children. Our vice-president is active in the area Citizens on Patrol group and the Citizens Police Academy Alumni. One of our board members is on the Parks and Recreation Board. We have had representatives attending the Arlington Neighborhood Academy, the I20 Business Park meeting, the Transportation meetings, and the Large Scale Retail meetings.
Now that you know that we are a committed group of residents and business people, let me move on to the purpose of this letter. We are chartered as a non-profit organization. We ask our residential members to pay a nominal fee of $5/year. Corporations may join for $100/yr. We are seeking more support from the business community in Southeast Arlington. Southeast Arlington is bounded by I-20 on the north, Cooper on the west and the city limits on the east and south boundaries. Any business in that area may join SEACA. We are also looking for sponsors for an entry in the cardboard boat regatta in the spring. SEACA participated last year so we have a seasoned crew(just a joke).
In conclusion, I would like to thank you for your attention to this matter. Please feel free to contact any of the board members or send your correspondence to the above P.O.Box. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Dave Breen
President, SEACA
