Communications
How to communicate
There are many mechanisms that you can use to communicate with your neighbors. Please take advantage of this association to facilitate your communications. Here are the various mechanisms that have been identified so far:
|
Email, telephone, US mail, door to door, word of mouth, bulletin boards, community TV channel, newspapers, and this Website
|
Here are some tips, considerations, and logistical information on using these various mechanisms.
Email
This website does not currently have a way to email all of the members who are registered. That would be ideal if it did, and I understand that withing a year, it will. Until then, the volunteers of this association will maintain an email distribution list. Please email John Thomas, and John will forward your email on to the "official" association distribution list.
Telephone
This is a time consuming medium, but very effective. The association has a list of phone nubmers of members who are willing to have such information handed out to other members.
US Mail
This is perhaps a more expensive medium, but very effective. The association has a list of addresses of members who are willing to have such information handed out to other members.
Door to Door
This is also a very effective means to communicate, especially if you need signatures or some other interaction with your neighbors. The association maintains a series of routes mapped out so you can devide and conquer. The routes are listed out on forms you can hand out if you have some volunteers to help you, and they track the "hits", so you know who you need to revisit.
Word of Mouth
Talk it up! Use the association meetings, social events, etc.
Bulletin Boards
There are several bulletin boards available within the community. The Post Office has one, as well as the store. (I need more details of the "rules" around using these bulletin boards.)
Community TV channel
(I need contact information and general guidelines for using the community TV Channel.)
Newspapers
Some of the Newpapers that you can use if you need to communicate to a broader audience are:
|
Falmouth Forcaster
The Community Leader
Portland Press Herald
|
(Are there other newspapers? I need contact info for each of these papers.)
This Website
Use the calendar feature on this website to add you event, start a discussion topic, or even add a page that is dedicated to your communication. Contact John Thomas if you need more assistance with determining how to use these various features. It remains to be seen just how effective this site will be!
