Our Responsibilities as Homeowners
We still have some homeowners that have failed to pay their dues. As an Association, the Board is charged with upholding the Conditions, Covenants, and Restrictions set forth for the neighborhood, and part of that means ensuring that all residents pay their dues and when they don?’t the Board is charged with taking action to collect them. When we have to seek legal means to enforce payment, it costs the entire community money in additional legal fees. The same is true when it comes to all homeowners adhering to the CC&R?’s. When they don?’t, and the Board must take legal action or incur additional costs to clean up, maintain yards, remove dead trees, file liens, etc. it costs everyone. Our dues are not sufficient to cover the negligence of some homeowners.
(There have been some who have told the board that they never received the first dues notice. Notices were sent to all homeowners by US Mail. We are unsure why some apparently did not receive the original notice. We are sorry for the problem and again ask if you have not paid your 2008 dues please do ASAP)
Southampton Common Areas
Attached to this newsletter is a map of our neighborhood showing the common areas. By being the property of Southampton Homeowners Association, these green spaces are the property of every homeowner in Southampton. Those who have taken upon themselves to mow and care for areas adjacent to their own property are appreciated. However, please be aware that others in the neighborhood still have the right to pass through these properties and that significant changes made to these properties, such as planting trees or placing of structures is not permissible without board approval. If you have issues regarding the care of common area land, please contact the board.
New Website
We are working on a new neighborhood website:
http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/public/main.html?nneighid=416900634&nsupercity=694865891
It is a work in progress that we hope will become a good resource for neighborhood information and best of all it is free.
Keeping up Appearances
At a time when property values are dropping nationwide, it is all the more important to keep our property as presentable as possible. Some easy ways to do this is keeping lawns mowed, keeping outside home appearance well maintained, remove items and clutter from yards and not parking vehicles on your lawn.
Brush Collection Schedule
There is one more brush collection day in 2008, September 23rd. The 2009 Schedule is January 23 and May 23.
Southampton Yard Sale Day is September 20th!
Southampton will have its neighborhood yard sale day on September 20th. The sale is yours, the profits are yours.
