Why is next Monday marked as Women's Equality Day in the US?
Because it was on August 26, 1920, that the 19th Amendment was
ratified. That Amendment, of course, granted women the right to vote
nationwide. You can get cool resources to help celebrate Women's
Equality Day from the National Women's History Project at

Did you know that a woman Member of Congress voted in favor of the
19th Amendment? How could there be a woman in Congress if the 19th
Amendment hadn't passed yet?
