My family wholeheartedly supports and participates in the recycling effort. However, just as expected, there are now DOUBLE the barrels remaining at the curbs throughout the week. This is in violation of Chapter 15, Article I, Section 15-8(a) of the City Code.

I find it disheartening to drive throughout the Midtown neighborhoods and see the streets littered with the green AND blue barrels, which promotes a trashy image throughout the City.

Now that the blue barrels have all been ''rolled out'' to the neighborhooods, and alley trash pickup has been eliminated, enforcement of the City Code should be a part of the program.

In December SWMD promised the code will be enforced. If that is the case, results should be seen within the next month or so. I hope so.

I am reading up on the the old neighborhoods, I have been gone a long time and was homesick.. why did they do away with alley pick up?  After moving to a town with curbside pickup I seriously missed the old alleys!  Curbside pick up is disgusting and you are correct, many people do not want to to take the rollouts in promptly.

Was just curious.  Also glad to see the old neighborhoods working on quality of life, I grew up over Columbus way many years ago, visited town recently and wow, things have changed.
