Construction Off Boren St.

Posted in: Redwood Village
My neighbors and I were wondering what will be happening on our street (Romo
Street).

We've recently had a manhole added to the cul-de-sac, and have several
markers painted on our street, curbs and grass. I have asked several of the
workers I've come across what to expect, but they haven't been able to give
me any answers. Some say sewer, others say electrical... Friends on other
streets in the area have heard that the city is upgrading our neighborhood
with underground utilities...

I've seen Roto-Rooter tearing up sidewalks in front of houses on Boren, and
wonder if the same will happen on our street.

I did review the neighborhood website but didn't see any specific reference
to this.

Would you please send me the link if I missed it, or pass along any
information you have?

San Diego Sewer Work

Chris Matter, Council Representaive for District7 responded to our request for information. He found out,Metropolitan Wastewater is working in Darnall to identify and repair leaks in the sewer lines around the area.

Construction Off Boren St.

As the constructin has started on Romo I can add more information re my original question. 1) A company called ''Insituform'' is rehabbing our sewer lines by adding liners to them. When they are working on your street, you can expect to lose access to your water/sewer for 6-8 hours. You will get a door hanger the day before your home will be affected. 2) Roto Rooter is also installing a 'clean out' to every home - adjacent to your property line (within the city setback - on Romo that's up to 10 feet in). Again, you will lose access to your water/sewer for a good portion of the day. The Roto Rooter crew completes approx. 4 houses per day - and will be digging a 5'x5' hole, 6-7 ft. deep in your front yard. When done you will have a round, flat cover in your yard for the city to access the clean out. Here again, they will notify you with a door hanger the day before.

Thank you for the info on the construction. This is taking place throughout the city. It was the best priced answer to our aging sewers. The clean outs will save the taxpayers money in the future. I want to know if the paint markings have been removed, as they should be within 30 days of completion of the work. Councilmen Jim Madaffer is very interested in this matter he calls, corporate graffiti.
