Parking on Greens chapel

While this thread is getting read, I will post my parking concerns, as I think they present a far greater safety concern than watering trees. The residents parking on greens chapel at the intersection of monroe station need to be told to stop. The only response ive gotten is that the Covenant is too vague to enforce anything, well if thats the case, amend the silly thing or throw it away all together. The parking there is way too dangerous to ignore!

You have a good point, parking on the streets is dangerous, frustrating and annoying. As I read the covenants there are little ''teeth'' to enforce the rule, and as of now no volunteers for routine checking for violators, although in some areas, its everyday and neighbors know. One idea, and this is just one, is to post the 'letter of violation' online at this site where a residence, say a neighbor who lives nearby and sees the violation could print it and place it on the violating vehicle. if that is done three days in a row and reported to the board as being done, then it would be documented as ''routinely parked'' and graduated fines could be imposed. I'd like to say very stiff ones or it won't catch anyone's attention. Again, I'm not the lead person on this and the board might have a better idea, but we're just tossing ideas around here. What are your thoughts?

Covenants

Yes, we(all) inherited this set of covenants when we moved here, only to find out they were borrowed from a subdivision in Chicago, not really our model....but amending it takes an 80% approval vote from all owners, we've been able to get that once on another issue but it took the board two years to complete, believe me I and the other board members would love to start that document over. We have a meeting scheduled for Wednesday night at 7:00 at 531 Rocky crossing if you would like to come and participate, you would be welcome! Otherwise I will pass on your concerns.

Parking

Outstanding post, Gabe--thanks for sharing your concerns.

Only a handful of neighborhood residents obstinately persist in violating our parking covenants, and the problem could easily be dealt with or thereby solved were poa leaders to genuinely shoulder the responsibility. Should leaders continue to waffle on this very important matter, on the other hand, then perhaps a dissolution of the covenants--and indeed a closing of neighborhood poa itself--is in order, for I'm increasingly reluctant to pay yearly dues only to see simple parking regulations so brazenly violated. Truth be known, I initially built in Legacy Pointe four years ago for the sole fact that I sought neighbors who would regularly treat and mow their lawns, and help maintain clear and orderly streets.

Let it be known that the vast majority of our neighbors do not infract these laws; and at this point, I thank them deeply for their collective spirit of cooperation. I stated in an earlier post that rules are never enacted only to be broken, and indeed razed by a select few. In fact the parking covenants were instituted in that we might enjoy a happy, healthy neighborhood whose streets and sidewalks are both safe and clear for our children, for nightly walkers or fitness buffs, cyclists, and general pedestrians--as well as aesthetically appealing to the public eye. Let's do our best to ensure that our streets don't soon mirror the choked congestion already witnessed in far too many Northwest Arkansas neighborhoods. We'll one day be be thankful that we took the extra effort.

Here's wishing a safe and profitable February to all. See you on Wednesday.
