I live on Tribuna AVE and currently I spend most of my time away from home because I'm in the military but I was home recently and was shocked and appalled at the numbers of blatant speeders that drive up and down Tribuna ave. Frankly, it's only a matter of time before someone is either hit by a motor vehicle or a motor vehicle crashes due to speed. I have heard the argument that speed bumps make it difficult for emergency vehicles to get through the neighbors. To that argument I say hog wash, I rarely see emergency vehicles using Tribuna Ave as a route to get to an emergency and what normally happens is traffic get routed down Tribuna after an accident on Pomerado. Next, I live part time in Whidbey Island and the city of Oak Harbor has installed speed bumps on many of the city streets including streets that could be used by emergency vehicles. What they have done is installed wide speed bumps that are flat on the top and well marked. The wide speed bumps still have a slowing effect but they are easier on suspensions than the narrower designs. My question is how do we get the speed bump process started? I've heard that 75 signatures are needed is that true? Lastly, if anyone would like to see pictures of the speed bumps that I am referring to I will be happy to post or email them.
