Neighborhood Watch

Secret Cove has an active neighborhood watch--

 Secret Cove Neighborhood Program

What is it?

The Neighborhood Watch Program is simply neighbor helping neighbor by keeping a watchful eye on each other’s safety, homes and property and being alert to suspicious and/or criminal activity in the neighborhood, so we can protect our families.

How does it work?

You may be contacted by one of 20 Block Captains. They act as liaison between you and law enforcement officials, so be responsive to their efforts to make to make ours one of the safest neighborhoods in the city. Your Block Captain will be able to inform you about recent events and, when necessary, provide you information for the safety of your family.

Why do we do it?

The recent slaying of a six year old child in Brunswick, Georgia, emphasizes the need to protect our children. We all need to be more aware of our surroundings. To become more informed, you may choose to visit  HYPERLINK "http://www.watchsystems.com/fl/jacksonville" http://www.watchsystems.com/fl/jacksonville or  HYPERLINK "http://www.familywatchdog.us" www.familywatchdog.us to learn of the registered sex offenders in our area.

Can I volunteer?

Yes you can! The more volunteers we have the better the program works. Since most residential crimes take place during daylight hours, people who are home during the day make the most effective Block Captains.  If you would like to volunteer or have questions, please contact your block captain or Neighbor Watch Co-Chairmen.

Vacation Tip: Call the police, Dark Report, 828-5463 to inform them of any vacation plans, which alerts them of the need for drive-by surveillance.

Jason Anderson, JSO, our Sheriff’s Patrol Officer, has requested that residents and their guests be sure when they park a car on the street that it is parked facing the same direction as the traffic flow. Also trailers parked on the street are a significant safety hazard and should not be there for any length of time and definitely not overnight.

With summer coming we must take the initiative to be more aware. We, your Neighborhood Watch Block Captains, have information and a desire to help to better protect your property, family and yourself against becoming crime victims. Just within the last year, there was a pickup truck stolen, a bike and tools stolen from an open garage, and tires slashed. Let’s work together to keep crime out of Secret Cove.
