I am not sure what your comments were going to be about the playground equipment because your post is blank; however, I would just like to say it looks horrible.  And I think in the condition that it is currently in, it is definitely a safety hazard.  I am not just a complainer considering my husband has been at the playground on 2 different occassions with a couple of other men in the neighborhood and they attempted to repair what they could.  Part of the problem is that this play equipment is not intended for "commercial" use, it is a unit designed for family use.  The other problem is the location which I think may encourage people that do not necessarily reside in Settler's Crossing to use/abuse the equipment.  When they have no investment in this neighborhood their incentive to use the playground with care is minimized.

Personally, I believe in its current state the playground reflects a poor image of our neighborhood and along with the debilitated looking entrances I am more than frustrated.  It won't be long before things like this begin to affect our property values and considering what we paid for our houses, what we pay in taxes, the HOA dues we pay and what some of us continue to invest into our private property this is unacceptable.

Burn it on July 4th

I have said from the beginning that we should move our play area somewhere near the pond.  More centalized means more people looking after it.  Maybe this is something we can do when this one is ready for tear down.  I was one of the guys that repaired it before- so if it something that we can fix, just write up a list and I will go over there to see what I can do.
