Withdraw of Permit Request ZA-20-07-3
Dear Ms. DeMichael:
Thank you for calling me this afternoon regarding the status of our
application #ZA-20-07-3 to open a thrift store operation at 13206 North
7th Street, Suite #2 in Moon Valley. We have considered our options
carefully regarding this retail operation and made the decision to rescind
our request for the permit. While we are confident the city would award
the permit and that The Salvation Army would be a good neighbor in Moon
Valley we will not be pursuing a store permit in this neighborhood.
My understanding is that the hearing will still take place on March 29 at
10:00 AM in the City Council Chambers. I will be there prepared to speak
to this issue and publically announce we will not be pursuing the permit.
I am sorry that your staff has had the extra burden of preparing for this
hearing but until today the formal decision had not been made. The
escalation of opposition from the neighborhood was further evidence that
this store will be too costly to successfully launch. Long term the store
would have been successful, but the support and relationship with our
donors is too important to us to move forward.
Thank you for your assistance in communicating this message with the
necessary people and official processes. If there is additional paperwork
needed please let me know (perhaps email a copy of any form needed).
In His service,
Jim Boyd, Captain
Phoenix ARC Administrator
