Shadow Rock-Gold Key Neighborhood Association

Meeting April 18th Update

Apr 24, 2007

April 18th meeting:

This is not to be considered the meetings of the meeting that was held at Shadow Rock Church on the night of April 18th. It is only to be viewed as my personal thoughts on what was talked about as topics to the best of my recollection, and my memory is bad I always forget something at the store when I go.

There were a couple of members at the meeting that had the opportunity to attend the City of Phoenix Damn #7 project meeting held at the elementary school earlier in the month. They indicated that the damn located in our area was in need of repair work and that the city engineers had decided on removal of some trees because of problems with them and they would also plant other types of vegetation that would help hold soil and prevent erosion.

The block-watch project was not discussed as those who were involved with the project were not in attendance.

The Thunderbird Wall project was talked about and it was decided that we just needed to remove and cutback a large amount of vegetation that has grown over wall onto the ??œcity side???. The cutback of bushes and trees will allow for power washing the wall in preparation of painting it as soon as reasonably possible.

Gary our treasurer was present at the meeting and was able to receive the donations that were made by those neighbors and friends from both last months meeting and the collection that was acquired from our door-to-door canvassing with flyers being dropped off. The total amount of the money will be deposited in the bank to safe guard the funds. Gary will be able to provide new and updated figure of our total funds at the next meeting. An accounting of all funds donated both at the last months meeting and from door to door had been recorded and checked by several members at all times to insure accuracy and accountability.

If you as a neighbor have not yet donated please don??™t hesitate to notify us and someone will work with your schedule to pickup the check and get it to the treasurer for safekeeping. The yearly dues are only $12 per year and are voluntary. This money helps to allow the association to conduct the normal and necessary business of operating.

There are several projects that require additional funding beyond the yearly dues. Thus we also request and hope that each homeowner will assist in helping out. Two of the other projects that are being worked on at this time are painting the T-bird wall and the funding needed for the block watch signs. There is also a neighborhood party coming up on May 6th that needs to have some working capital to allow for the purchase of some foods and drink items.

Please remember that all of the funding and years dues are ??œvoluntary???; and not everyone can or will contribute to the association. We also have been blessed with having several ??œspecial neighbors and friends??? who have been assisting in ??œprinting flyers??? (at their own expense) and those who have helped in just getting them delivered to your door. Their donated time is one of the most valuable assets our neighborhood has.

It would be inappropriate of me to mention the names of who contributed as I don??™t have their permission to do so. However they know who they are and the association thanks them for their assistance and generosity.

An election of new officers as not possible as there wasn??™t a quorum at the meeting.

The neighborhood party was mentioned however at this moment it appears that there may be too few people for a good turnout. If you haven??™t already called and RSVP please do so as soon as possible in order to have some idea as to how many will be in attendance. You can call the 862-0313 and leave a message with name and how many will be there.

Looking at the other needs in the neighborhood we have to finish the several projects that are presently underway before we can start looking into solving other issues. Please be aware that there are a limited number of individuals who are working to accomplish these tasks. If you can help it is most appreciated we need more volunteers to help make our neighborhood a better place. You are part of it.

Finally arrangements are being made for our next monthly meeting; the date and location have not yet been determined.
