As the population of children grows in Davies Plantation, the older one, I am wondering if there has ever been talk of a play area at Hillwood. Ive seen on these boards where people complain because of bikes in the street, kids running through streets, and kids just everywhere. If you dont want them in the street riding bicycles, which when I drive they are very cautious and to the side, then where exactly do you want them to go? Parents do not want bicycle tracks in their front yard and the drive way isnt a very fun place to ride bikes. In our society today we encourage our children to be active and not be lazy on the couch eating potato chips.Yet, in their own neighborhood, where their parents have invested their money in a home, they are not able to ride their bicycle down the street. What kind of example are we setting? So when you are complaining about these children please think of ways we can allow them to be active in the community, while not a burden to other residents.Thank you.

Experienced similar atmosphere
We, too, were disappointed to realize what a child-unfriendly area this is. Our children ride bikes in accordance with their bike safety class rules, yet adults feel free to yell at them to get off the roads. I was riding with them one day when all of us were stopped behind a delivery/utility truck. A woman who became impatient with the slowdown yelled for us to get off the roads and go home as she passed the utility truck. Unfortunately, this is an attitude we have repeatedly encountered. Now when our children ride bikes, they go several blocks up to Plantation Hills which is kid-friendly. |
