I have lived in Sheridan Gardens since 2003. I love the neighborhood and do not plan on leaving any time soon. However, now that I have 2 children I feel that the neighborhood, or even surrounding neighborhoods, have very little to offer kids and families as far as parks go. Every now and then, I take them down to Sheridan Park, but the kids get bored easy so I typically have to take them elsewhere to a bigger or nicer park. Are there any plans to upgrade or make any improvements to Sheridan park? Sure would be nice to convert the old wading pool into a wading pool/splash pad like many neighborhoods are getting in other areas of Des Moines. Also maybe improve the tennis court and make a full court basketball court. And another idea...80% of Sheridan Park is nothing...just grass and open area. This is nice and all, but what about creating a walk way with lots of plants and landscaping with maybe a nice fountain in the middle? Why should we of Sheridan Gardens have to leave our neighborhood everytime we want to go to a nice, enjoyable park? Let's upgrade Sheridan Park and bring people to OUR neighborhood. I am sure money is an issue, but many people tend to get things done. Sheridan Park has a lot of potential (especially with its space). I think it is time we give it a facelift and give our kids and familes a better place to have fun and make memories.
