The best way to prevent I.D. theft is to purchase a secure mail box from the post office. Do not place any outgoing mail in your mail box. Use the drop boxes.

Shred or burn all credit card bills, credit card offers and bank statements. I.D. thieves will go through your garbage.

Photocopy everything you carry in your purse or wallet. Remove your social security card from your purse or wallet.

The Bank of America has a website with information on how to prevent ID Theft.

Call and check your credit history. 1-800-680-7289, 1-800-525-6285 or check your social security information at 1-800-269-0271.

If you bank on-line make sure it is a secure site. When you have completed your banking sign off immediately.
