The third week of Aug a meeting was held at the North Ridge Medical Center to discuss concerns over air traffic and noise from the Ft.LX.
The congressman and staff are assisting the area in addressing long term concerns. Planes are now utilizing the 13/31 runway which takes east bound traffic over I-95 and then Commercial Blvd. The airport is recognized as a Free Trade Zone (FTZ) and residents expressed growing concern over increased use of the airport and the future impact of "jet taxi" services.
An interesting finding from the meeting is that NO ONE from the local community (read that as flight path) are on the board of the airport. The congressman expressed concern over this finding and is requesting that the FAA increase staffing at the airport.
Congressman Klein is also reviewing the number of complaints called in to the airports noise abatement line. You may report issues of noise or low flying aircraft (below 2,000 feet) at 954-828-6666.
The abatement line is a recording so leave the day, time of day, direction and as much information as you can about the aircraft.
We will post notice of future meetings so all interested may attend.
