Community Property

Posted in: Thousand Oaks - Lawrenceville
I have an ongoing concern for the condition of our community property that is presently designated as a gathering area and nature trail for the members. For those that may not be informed, this is a six acre area deeded to the community. A pavilion was built by the members and an outside contractor was hired to pour the floor. Jim and Kathy Scofield donated their time and talent in building a large grill. Members made a path on the outer perimeter which makes for a nice walk.

It is, therefore, very upseting to see the area repeatedly abused. Before the cement was dry on the pavilion floor, youngsters rode their bikes on it. The grill has been vandalized and beer bottles, liquor bottles, and trash have been scattered about the area. One of the picnic tables various members put together has already been burned. Youngsters are using the picnic tables as skateboard jumps. Someone even abandoned a car on the premises.

Gates were installed, but the vandalism continues.

We don't want to give up this property. Who knows what would be built in this location if the property went back to the county.

It is shameful that this area, which is a great place for neighborhood gatherings, family outings, etc., is being trashed. It belongs to us all. What can we do to protect it?
