Homeowners are required to check their water pressure at least annually, at their own expense.
A water gauge, for this purpose, can be purchased for about $15. It is placed on the outoors water hose spigot and the water turned on and the pressure read.
The pressure should be less than 75psi. If the pressure is higher it should be adjusted on the regulator, usually positioned near the clothes washer in the garage. If the regulator cannot change the pressure it is probably deficient and needs to be replaced. Replacement will require a plumber and will cost about $125.
