The HOA has received some inquiries regarding snow removal in the neighborhood, and thought it would be worthwhile to provide its response to everyone.

After the initial large snow fall from Friday, the HOA left a message with the City of Delaware Public Works department on Sunday and soon after the neighborhood was plowed, removing most of the loose snow.  Unfortunately this was after most of the snow was packed down and frozen once the temperature had dropped, therefore a packed icy snow remained before Tuesday's snow.

Typically the city will address residential streets within 24 hours of snow stopping and major arteries being cleared.  For some this isn't fast enough, but that is what we have to deal with.  The following link describes the City of Delaware Snow Removal Policy ( http://www.delawareohio.net/UserUploads/UserDocuments/Departments/Public_Works/2009-2010_Snow_policy.pdf  ).  The HOA hasn't retained a plowing service since the city's historical response times were reasonable and this was most cost effective option for the HOA.  Some have suggested hiring someone to plow, but at this point it would be a extremely expensive proposition to hire a snow plow since the demand for those services are at their peak.

The HOA has once again contacted the Public Works department early today since a plow hasn't come through neighborhood since yesterday's snow.  You and your neighbors are also encouraged to contact them as well, which may result in quicker response (contact information is below)--there are two options for contacting the city--by phone or through an online request. If you contact the City by phone, do not hesitate to leave a message on the voice mail system.
