Please remember that the deadline for Letters of Interest for the Chicago Design Competition is Monday, March 2, 2015
The design challenge guidelines request a letter of interest by March 2 from nonprofit
organizations that have programs focusing on youth ages 13 to 18 years who live in communities
of high levels of violence, and/or focusing on the parents of these youth. Applicants will need to
present a clear description of the problem the intervention seeks to address and how they
envision the program will work to improve the life chances of young people at risk of violence or
victimization.
The Letters of Interest should be sent via email to chicagodesigncompetition@lists.uchicago.edu.
Read a press release detailing the announcement and the competition's RFP.
With support from Get in Chicago and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the University of Chicago Crime Lab and Urban Education Lab launched the design challenge earlier this month to identify promising interventions to address the problem of youth violence.
The competition, which will bring together the front-line knowledge of practitioners, the leadership of policymakers, and the insights of researchers, will provide up to $1,000,000 to support one or more winning entries to be implemented at scale and rigorously evaluated.
We encourage you to forward this reminder to individuals or organizations working on promising solutions and who may be interested in applying to the Chicago Design Competition.
All the best,
Roseanna
