The Ordination Council for Joseph Banks met at Southern Heights Baptist Church, 4001 S. Anthony Blvd., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46806, on August 15, 2009.

Dr. Otha Aden – Pastor Southern Heights Baptist Church, Ordination Pastor, as director of the South Side Opportunity Service, Inc. tutoring.
Dr. Allen McFarland – President of the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association and Senior Pastor of Calvary Evangelical Baptist Church and serving as Catechizer.
Motion was made by Pastor Aden for Pastor Brad McGuire to serve as clerk. The motion was seconded by Pastor Moore. Motion carried.
Roll Call was made by the clerk and the council was seated by the motions of Pastor Wagstaff and Pastor Moore.
Pastor Smith noted one point of clarification. There will be a laying on of hands included near the end of the council proceedings. A motion was made to adopt the order of events as amended by Pastor Aden. This was seconded by Pastor Wagstaff. Motion carried.
Visitors were introduced who had joined to observe the initial steps of the ordination. The friends and family were invited by the council to stay for the duration of the ordination.
Connie Banks shared her testimony by reflecting on her life in Philadelphia, marrying Joe in 1962, and their three children. She said she has sought to encourage and support her husband in every way.
Joe Banks shared his testimony noting that he came to faith in 1955 through the ministry of Youth For Christ. He then entered the navy from 1962-1977. After which he became interested in starting a Christian elementary school. He and his family moved to Warsaw in 1980 and he retired from Bristol Meyers Squibb in 1997. In 1999 he joined Southside Opportunity Service after seeing Fort Wayne’s homicides double that year. The church ordained Minister Banks on August 23 and presented to him an NIV Study Bible by Southern Heights Baptist Church. Our thanks to the Council!
