The Board of Directors is looking over resumes for a new Community Manager.
Years ago, the Board in office had the community vote on whether to hire from within the community or from outside of the community. The vote at that time was to hire from inside the community and Mrs. Betty Little became CAM.
When Mrs. Little retired, Gwen Wier, also a resident and with a business background, became CAM. Mrs. Wier is not renewing her contract with the community for various reasons and the Board is now seeking a replacement. But what happens if there are NOT any qualified persons within the community who apply to the position? The Board has 9 resumes of which they are currently only considering the five from within the community. If you had to make the decision, would you worry about where the CAM lives, or would you look at the overall qualifications of each candidate and hire on the basis of business experience, accounting background and professionalism? Just because the candidate does not live within the community, should they be excluded from the process automatically, even though they may have the best qualifications?
What do the residents think of this matter? The office sent out letters, asking for opinions and asked the residents to comment and return the letter if they wanted to keep the manager hiring from within the community. Only three people returned the letters. Can you take a moment to vote on the situation?
Email soha7601@yahoo.com with your vote. You must email from a valid, personal email address. This must be able to be verified, so include your street address and phone number. Your email address must be registered to your home address to count.
Southern Oaks needs a quick response on this. Can you spare the time on line? If you can't, drop a yes or no vote in the drop box. Do it quick. Your vote does count but you must vote! Should they hire from within for someone with the bare essentials or can they hire from without the community for someone with better credentials.
Do we make do, as before or hire by credentials and experience?
