Representative democracy in action. I am not sure how a vote could have worked. We can't get a quarum to show up for a meeting. The board is making decisions based on their calculus of the best interest of our neighborhood. I suggest service to the community through responsibility rather than back seat criticism alone. Criticism is healthy and needed for our community but the realization must come that this is much easier than weighing options and making decisions in the interests of your neighbors. The backseat is very comfortable.

It is unfortunate that you feel the residents do not have the right to know how their money is being spent, but sir  you are wrong. A mailer should have went out telling them what the board would like to do and that a special meeting is scheduled for a certain date in order to get the input of our residents. (This would not be on routine things but this type of purchase was not necessary and is a nice to have purchase.) Then a vote should have been taken by the residents in the meeting. After the vote,  if in majority there would have been an  approval for the expenditure. If there was not a vote in favor, it would be voted down. That is Democracy in action. What you described is a dictatorship. I believe we have a community wide meeting in October. The lakes have been the way they are for 12 years, why could this have not waited until then?

The board still has not openly published for the residents how much of their money has been spent on this. I am a resident in good standing and not only have a right to know, I want to know the amount that has been spent. I have news for you, I am not the only one! Post the amount spent on this here for the cost of stone, the fountains including the electric lines for the fountains that are also being installed.

I have news for you, if we are wasting our money on this and on other frivilous law suits, residents are ready to hire an attorney to represent them to assist in going through the process of removing the current board entirely. The cost of this attorney would be paid out of any surplus that the current board has not currently wasted. They have sued a resident and then lost law suit. This was an issues similiar to the mail box issue just on a larger scale. The judge ruled that there was nothing wrong with what their property looked like and it was functional and not offensive. I am certain that a similar ruling would be handed down concerning out mail box`s.
