Southfield Homeowners Association

At 1008 W. Beech there is a black car that has been sitting in the driveway for over 2 years with a flat tire. There is also a black truck sitting in the driveway at 1111 W. Beech St. that has been sittin there for over 2 years also. I thought we had rule to this??? It brings the neighborhood down!!! Lets inforce our rules and please have the owners fix the vehicles and actually use them or have them towed off!!!!

Vehicle Violations

This has been brought to the attention of the Homeowners Association & yes, it against our by-laws. However, after contacting an attorney (about this & other issues) we were informed that this would be an ''up hill battle'' since it is parked in their driveway. The city has also been notified, but didn't seem to want to act on this issue. I will continue to work toward a solution & you may try to call the city also. These are not the only 2 vehicles in violation. If we work together, maybe we can resolve this problem.

As a member of the Association Board I understand your frustration. Bringing issues like this to our attention is important, and yes it does bring our neighborhood down. The Association will send out letters again asking the homeowners to fix or move the vehicles. At this point due to the bylaws in place, this is all that we can do. The current board has resently tried to have penelties put in place but when it came to a vote it was put down, I probably feel the same way about this as you do...
