Centennial

Jul 09, 1999

In early June, Judge Leopold of the District Court denied Greenwood Village's request to reconsider his earlier ruling on the validity of the Centennial petition and on the priority of the incorporation election over any competing annexation elections. At the same time, Judge Leopold ruled that he was keeping the stay on the Centennial election, pending the appeals process. The Centennial attorneys appealed to the higher Appellate Court in May.

A decision is expected soon after the July 4th holiday. If a go-ahead for an election is received at this time, we could be voting on the incorporation of Centennial very soon! If the voters vote "YES" to forming the city of Centennial, we new citizens will then have two more elections -- one to elect a mayor and city council, and a final one to decide our new city sales tax.
