You may have seen the occasional vehicle patrolling through the neighborhood with a Southland Terrace sign on the side and a Citizens Patrol sign on the rear. Or you may have seen your neighbor walking or driving around with a Baby Blu shirt, jacket, and/or hat.
Who are these people? Are they casing the neighborhood? Are they looking for something to steal?
NO!
These are concerned citizens, trained by the Fort Worth Police Department, to serve as a second set of eyes for the Police Department to keep our neighborhood safe.
Armed with a Police Radio, they patrol the neighborhood looking for anything that doesn't look right and report it to the Police.
It may be unknown persons driving or walking through the neighborhood; open garage doors or your home doors; possible prostitution, drug activity, or other activity that looks suspicious.
Code Blue patrollers have helped prevent burglaries, vehicle thefts, and earlier in 2004 helped capture a murderer.
Some Code Blue patrollers have been trained in Search and Rescue and have helped many times in locating runaways, lost children, and disoriented Seniors.
It is purely voluntary. If you can patrol just a couple of hours a month, please contact Frances Jackson at the FWPD at 817-922-3418 or Steve Kaneaster at 817-874-0119.
