After being held up due to the shortage of flu shots, the vaccine for children is now available through Fort Worth's Hot Shots program.
Hot Shots offers many immunizations at no cost for low-income families, but it will also offer flu shots while supplies last. Hot Shots is a partnership between the Fort Worth Public Health and Fire departments with a goal of breaking down physical and financial barriers to preventive immunizations.
The flu shots will be available to children between the ages of 6 months and 18 years. The children must be underinsured, have no insurance, or be covered under CHIP or Medicaid.
Parents with children 5 years old and younger are encouraged to come and take advantage of other vaccine opportunities as well. Available vaccines include: Diphtheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Haemophilus Influenza B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Polio, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A, Varicella and Pneumococcus.
