Citizen Police Academy (CPA)

This 11-week program helps educate citizens about SA?’s Police structure and activities. It is an exciting ?“behind-the-scenes?” look at SAPD; open to people at least 18 years old, who pass a thorough background check. This course meets one night a week for 3 hours, at the SAPD Police Training Academy on SE Loop 410. Topics include: introduction to the Homicide, Traffic, and Narcotics divisions; plus hands-on workshops in Tactics, Fingerprinting, and Firearms Safety. Participants can also experience an 8-hour Ride-Along with a patrol officer. People are encouraged to apply early, because class size is limited to about 50 people.
