Young Girl Raped by Sky Harbour

The May crime statistics state ?“forcible rape?”. In fact, from what we?’ve learned, it was the rape of a young McAuliffe Jr High girl one afternoon while school was still in session, on the railroad right-of-way (ROW), between McAuliffe and Sky Harbour. The suspects are three Hispanic males, approximate ages 18?—21.
Of course, the girl?’s name is protected. Of course, our sympathies and concern goes out to her and her family. But the question also arises, is there anything we can do? Specifically on this case, particularly for those of you living adjacent to the railroad ROW, if you heard or saw anything unusual that might tie into the case, call Detective Ross at the SAPD sexual assault section.
More generally, SWCA has had a standing offer to SAPD to help pass out fliers/wanted posters for any suspects of crimes in our area. We also offer to help distribute fliers of missing/abducted people. Of course, we need many SWCA members willing to give of their time, to get such fliers out as soon as possible and to as many people as possible. If you?’re willing to do such, on short notice, please call 623-3965 and leave your name, address, and phone number?—so we?’ll have it for future needs.
We ALL need to be observant of activity around us. Inform parents of any kid doing anything they shouldn?’t. If the parents are defensive and do nothing to correct their kids, then start documenting the problems and start informing the police. (That?’s what we have a SAFFE officer for).
