Chesterbrook Noisy Neighbors

Posted in: Chesterbrook PA

Hi! I've lived in Chesterbrook for 6 years+ now, for the first 4 years I thought this was a great place to live. I live in a first floor unit in Embassy Court. Underneath hellish people unfortunately. They moved in 2 years ago and have not stopped moving in since. It was a rental unit before they bought it and it had carpeting.. the sound proofing was pretty great. Now these people have hardwood flooring and a penchant for DIY, chain saws and stomping. The echo and vibrations are insane. The kind of noise you will still feel if you turn your music up loud and put in ear plugs. I spoke to them nicely when they moved in letting them know we hear every step and sneeze they make but they do not care.

Very disappointed with the HOA they do not seem to have rules about carpeting in 2nd floor units, they said my only option is to file complaints. I don't know where that will get me so I haven't bothered. We hate eachother enough. I would never in a million years buy a 1st floor condo in Chesterbrook. Not if I was paid to take it. The only solution is to move but we cannot afford a house until I am out of grad school..so, cheers! I'd love anyone in chesterbrook who has been through this to contact me here or via email @ MLoprete530 at gmail.com

I also live in a 1st floor apartment in Chesterbrook. I have experienced noisy, inconsiderate neighbors above me before. It is very tough! I am fortunate, for the last 5 years I've had a very quite couple.

I also can hear pretty clearly anyone above me. I do question your thoughts on the hardwood flooring installed above you. I thought it was in the laws that this was not allowed. Severeal in my unit have had hardwood floos installed. I told my owner above to please not do it for it was against the bylaws and very noisy am I have been told. I warned that I would report him if he did it, and I would insist it be removed.

Thanks for the post! I had subscribed to this thread so I was happy to see there was a reply. Well, the situation is far more volatile now!

My neighbor is not only noisy but a complete sociopath... calls the cops on ME if i put a broom to the wall after hours of her nonstop pounding. It's almost comical at this point, the cops just come and shrug at me. Other than that sillyness she's proved to be threatening as well, in interactions she's told me to 'look at her face' correctly, and one time i begrudgingly had to go over there to ask her to stop running water because we had a plumbing issue and everything was coming back up into my sink. I told her I had drano in my sink and I was afraid I may get it in my eyes or burned while I bailed it out... she was agreeable and nice, then she went upstairs and immediately turned on her dishwasher. All I could do was curse at the cieling. Never in my life!!

Anyway sorry for the added rant.. another neighbor informed me recently that this law existed as well, but I've had a hard time getting the HOA to actually look up the rule. I need to get my hands on a copy of the bylaws. but I can't even imagine what will ensue if I find it in the book and she is told to put carpeting in!

I'm a little jealous you live under quiet people! Honestly with carpet up there noise was never an issue.

I will say though, as much as this person is problematic, the rest of my neighbors are fantastically friendly and it is a lovely neighborhood.

I live in Eagles Ridge in Chesterbrook, on the 1st floor. My new neighbor came in and installed hardwood floors. It is against the rules, for anyone above the 1st floor. I tunred him in and we both received a letter stating that he must install rugs to the code of the building. He said he did not know the rule. I submit NO NEW TENANTS RECEIVE A COPY OF THE RULES! The real estate agents just want to sell it and the owners never transfer the rules to the new tenants either. It is making for extreme discord what with dogs crapping all over also.

The digital copy of the rules is outdated. I submit it should be immediatey redone up-to-date, and anyone coming into the neighborhood should have to sign a form stating they read the rules and understand and tend to obey them.
