LoDo residents reach fundraising goal for light rail spur

Congratulations, LoDo residents! You were asked to contribute $20,000 in support of the proposed 1.8 mile Light Rail Spur through the Central Platte Valley (CPV) to Union Station and the extension of the Mall shuttle to the same spot. You responded quickly and generously from throughout LoDo and beyond, from Acme, Edbrooke, Ice house, John Deere, Moore Hardware, One Wynkoop, Palace Lofts, Rocky Mountain, Skylofts, Streetcar Stables, and Wynkoop Mercantile. Thanks to your active support, we expect to have reached our goal by the time you read this!
Our contributions will be part of $250,000 LoDo is providing through LDDI. The rest of the $40 million cost will come from major stakeholders in the Central Platte Valley, the City of Denver, DRCOG and the RTD. At the first meeting of the new RTD Board, January 19, an initial $2 million was approved in a 12 -2 vote to allow studies and other activity to get under way immediately in order to avoid delay that might push the fall 2000 completion date out of reach. St. Charles Neighborhood Group worked closely with LDDI in this effort and we thank all whose efforts and whose contributions helped us show our support for this important neighborhood development.
