Introduction:

The arrival of Johnson Development to develop land in and around our neighborhood has given rise to concerns and hope for significant improvements for all.

On December 15, 2003, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors approved the developer's request for estabishment of Planned Unit Developments around St. Andrews. Aggreived opponents have until December 24 or 26 to file an appeal to Circuit Court.

More interesting golf courses close-by.
Increased valuation of homes
Some curbing of medians along St. Andrews Drive
Recreational Park between St. Andrews and Pinehurse (approx. 8 acres nonwetlands)
St. Andrews marina made useful again
New clubhouse

Possible Costs:
Changes in protection from storm wind and water
Less consistent residential water system pressure
Changes in fire risk and protection
Increased traffic flow
Change of residential zoning protection around St. Andrews.
Increased property taxation due to value increase.
Decreased valuation of homes if supply of homes exceeds demand
Increased population density
Increased greens and membership fees for golf courses

According to a press release from Greg Williams reported by the SunHerald today, it appears that Greg Williams has given up on closing a deal with Frank Johnson. However, Mr. Johnson indicates he is continuing to seek adequate financing.
