Drug Dealing

Posted in: Historic Kenwood
I have bought a house on the corner of 3rd and 24th street and have been working there during the day. I have seen drugs being dealt by a couple of teenagers on bikes no less... I have called our Community Police Officer and told him and he said he is aware of it.. So what does that mean.?????? I do not accept the fact that drugs are being sold in front of my house and my neighborhood police officer knows of it and no one is being arrested. What can we do? Can we bring the marchers back? I know that drugs are also being dealt on the corner of 2nd and 24 th St. My handyman saw them last week and told me about it I DO NOT LIKE THIS.......... If I saw it once and he saw it once, where else is it going on and how often. Are we supposed to accept this?

Some remedies?

WOW! It really disturbs me to think that this type of stuff is going on in such a blatant manner, during the day and in the middle of the street. I have a couple of remedies to this problem, maybe one will help...
1) I have a very large husband who works on our house Mon-Weds (Dartmouth and 22nd-23rd, I can loan him to you for intimidation purposes. The only problem is that I'm afraid it would just scare them off to another street and that wouldn't really solve the problem.
2) I would be more than happy to set up my camcorder at your home when this is going on. I tend to think it would be difficult for our ''community'' police officer (or his supervisor) to deny this being caught on tape. Just generalizing here but when people are held accountable, amazing things can happen.
I have been in Florida for 6 months and find the police dept. response time to be disgusting. I own a property (not in Kenwood) that has had several vandalisms. Sometimes the police show up when I call and sometimes they don't. I'll stop here but trust me, I could go on an on about this subject!
If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I work for myself and can be in the neighborhood at the drop of a dime!
Action or inaction

When the ''police'' say they are aware, that is good. It does however beg the next guestion. What action are they taking in the near future? Sometimes these things take some time. As long as we know there is a plan. Ask your officer. If you don't like the answer, go up, up, up the ladder.

THE MARCH

As far as I know all we need to do to have a march is request the police dept. escort (legitimizing the march) and schedule with them when and where. This corner has been a problem before and I feel it should be addressed. A word of caution though, if we call a march and no one comes we will not get another chance. That is why they ended in the first place- lack of interest.
We have a number of experienced marchers and if we could get 10 (20 would be better) we could probably have a march.
